Why Does A Piano Need To Be Regulated?
A piano will have about 12,000 parts. About 10,000 are moving parts. You can imagine that with so many moving parts sometime things might not run as smoothly as you like. Piano's contain many wood parts. These parts expand and contract with changes in humidity and other climate conditions. As a result, in time they might stop functioning ideally. The keys might stick, hammers might start to rub together, or other action parts might start to bind slowing down the repetition of the action. This can affect the touch and feel of the piano. Adjustment is needed to compensate for this. I compare having you your piano regulated to doing a tuneup on your car. While a car may be running fine in general, having it tuned up from time to time can keep it running at its best. Similarly by having regulation work done you can keep a piano running at its best.
